INSTALL HELP

How to install KotKit on Android

Google Play Protect may warn about APK installation outside Google Play. That is expected for this distribution flow. Follow the checklist below and re-enable protection after setup.

Use the latest APK source from KotKit. If your phone brand labels settings differently, search for "unknown apps" or "install unknown apps" in Android Settings.

1. Disable Google Play Protect temporarily

  • Open Google Play Store.
  • Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  • Open Play Protect and then open its settings.
  • Temporarily disable automatic app scanning or threat checks so Android does not block the APK immediately.

2. Allow installs from your browser or file manager

  • Open Android Settings.
  • Search for Install unknown apps, Unknown sources, or a similar menu name on your device.
  • Allow installation permission for the browser or file manager you use to open the APK.

3. Download and install the APK

  • Download the current KotKit APK from the official project source.
  • Open the downloaded file and continue with installation.
  • If Android shows a warning, review the source and proceed only if you are using the official KotKit package.

4. Turn Play Protect back on

  • After installation, return to Play Protect settings.
  • Re-enable the security checks you disabled earlier.
  • Launch KotKit and finish the in-app onboarding flow.

Common questions

  • Play Protect warnings do not automatically mean the APK is malicious; they often appear because the app uses capabilities that Google treats carefully outside Google Play.
  • If installation keeps failing, make sure there is enough free storage and that your Android version matches the APK requirements.
  • If your phone vendor uses a custom settings menu, search settings for "unknown apps", "special access", or "security".
